Cash Advances

Where to Use Your Card
Your credit card can be used for a broad variety of needs, from day-to-day expenses to special occasions like vacations to emergency expenditures. It's also the perfect way to pay for recurring fees such as monthly health club dues. You can use your card anywhere you see the MasterCard® or Visa® logos.

Cash Advances
If your account is in good standing, you may be able to use your credit card to access cash at banks and Automated Teller Machines (ATMs).

Specific Terms Apply
Only a portion of your total credit line may be available for cash advances. And, for your protection, there may be limits to the amount of cash you can receive daily.

  • While cash advances can be convenient, you may want to limit your usage of them, since they often come with a higher interest rate and additional transaction fees.
  • Be sure to read your Account Agreement and review your statement for details.

Using Your Card at ATMs
To obtain cash advances at ATMs, you'll need a Personal Identification Number (PIN). You can use your PIN to get cash from most ATMs.

No PIN? Lost PIN?
If you do not have a PIN, or have forgotten your PIN, call one of our Customer Service Representatives at the number on the back of your card to request a new PIN. For your security, Customer Service Representatives do not have access to your current PIN but can issue a new one.

Credit Card Holds
Some merchants that accept credit cards may routinely place an authorization request that acts as a "hold" against a certain amount of the available credit in your account. These holds are permitted by the Visa and MasterCard Associations for specified merchants, under tightly controlled circumstances. Any such "holds" on your account are due to transaction requests placed by these merchants and are not imposed because of our policy.

Car rental companies, hotels, and gasoline stations are examples of merchants that may have hold policies. These holds provide merchants with a level of assurance that they will be paid for services or products — such as room service charges during a hotel stay — that will be used by the customer before the exact dollar amount of the final transaction is known.

For example, when checking into a hotel the front desk clerk may place a transaction request that serves as a temporary hold on your credit line ($250 as an example) to cover expected room rental costs, tax, and incidentals that you may incur, such as mini-bar or restaurant charges. When you check out, your card is billed for the exact amount of your stay. If your hotel bill is less than the amount of the transaction request that was placed on your card when you checked in, the difference will be released back to the available credit on your account. This is actually a fairly complex process involving a few different entities, and the hold may remain on your card for up to a few business days while the hold and the final transaction are reconciled.

If you are near your credit limit, a hold will not trigger an overlimit fee. If, however, the actual charges you incur take your account above your credit limit, you may be assessed an overlimit fee. In addition, holds do reduce your available credit. That's why it's recommended that you always know what your available credit line is before using your card.
