Washington Mutual

Terms of Use

If you’re not yet a Washington Mutual customer, we hope you’ll join us. It’s our intention to delight our customers (and to make a fan out of you!).

Before using this site, please carefully read these Terms of Use, as well as our Privacy Policy.

By accessing our site(s) on the Internet (the “Site”), you indicate your acknowledgment and acceptance of these Terms of Use.

Washington Mutual maintains the Site to:

  • Provide you with information about Washington Mutual products and services, and
  • Facilitate communication with Washington Mutual and its related companies.

We may occasionally revise these Terms of Use.

If the Site gives you online access to information on your credit card account with us, that feature is for your convenience only and does not change the terms of your account agreement with us. If you have a credit card account with us, online account information may show credit card transactions, other charges, payments and other credits. Online credit card account information, however, does not replace the periodic statements mailed to you that include certain credit card account disclosures and that may include more accurate, current, and complete information on your credit card account. For example, "Available Credit" on a credit card account shown on the Site may not include recent charges or payments that haven't yet posted to your account. If you have questions about credit card account information on the Site, please call Customer Service at the number on the back of your card.

Because banking laws vary from state to state, not all of the products or services described on the Site are available in all geographic areas. You may not be eligible for all the products or services described. For example, eligibility for loans is determined according to our loan underwriting policies. Washington Mutual reserves the right to determine the eligibility for any product or service.

Washington Mutual owns the copyright of the images, text, screens and Web pages (or others as indicated) appearing on the Site. You may copy information from the Site for your personal or educational use, provided that each copy includes copyright, trademark or service mark notices, or attribution as they appear on the Site.

The information and material may not otherwise be copied, displayed, distributed, downloaded, licensed, modified, published, reposted, reproduced, reused, sold, transmitted, used to create a derivative work or otherwise used for public or commercial purposes, except as provided in these terms, without the express written permission of Washington Mutual.

When you conduct banking transactions on the Site through a secure browser, information transmitted to us will be governed by our Privacy Policy. Otherwise, unless prohibited by law, any communication or material you transmit to us via the Site or Internet e-mail is not considered to be confidential, and we may use that communication or material for any legal purpose.

We use our best efforts to include accurate and up-to-date information on the Site, but we make no warranties or representation as to the accuracy of the information.

If the Site offers investment products and services through WM Financial Services, Inc., an affiliate of Washington Mutual, Inc. and its banking subsidiaries, these products and services are not FDIC-insured, nor are they guaranteed by, or obligations of, any bank. These products and services involve investment risk, including the possible loss of principal invested.

By using the Site, your access and use of the Site and its contents are at your own risk. We specifically disclaim any liability (whether based in contract, tort, strict liability or otherwise) for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising out of, or in any way connected with, your access to or use of the Site (even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damage). This includes liability associated with any viruses that may infect a user’s computer equipment.

With regard to services or products purchased or obtained by you through the Site from a person or entity other than Washington Mutual:

Washington Mutual makes no warranty of merchantability or warranty of fitness for a particular purpose with regard to such services and products. Washington Mutual specifically disclaims all other warranties with regard to such services or products

Your use of this Site will be governed by Washington state law, and jurisdiction and venue will be located in Seattle, Washington.

Please note that while you have the benefit of Washington Mutual’s terms and Privacy Policy when you use the Site, if you access a third-party Web site through a link on the Site you will be subject to the terms and privacy policies of that third-party site. Washington Mutual cannot take responsibility for the content, terms of use, privacy policies, business practices or products or services of any third-party Web site.
